About the faculty
The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University (formerly the Victorian College of Pharmacy) engages in world-class research and is a leading provider of education at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In August 2008, the new name for the faculty was adopted to highlight our education and research offerings and to better reflect our distinct position within the healthcare, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. The faculty is located at Monash University’s Parkville campus. The campus is 3km north of Melbourne’s city centre and is part of the ‘Parkville strip’ – Australia’s premier knowledge precinct. The campus has first class teaching facilities and research laboratories arising from a $45 million redevelopment over the past two years. The educational profile of the faculty comprises two undergraduate programs, four postgraduate coursework and two higher degree by research courses. Over 1100 students are enrolled in these programs. The key research initiatives within the faculty, engaging more than 200 research staff and post-graduate students, are the Centre for Medicine Use and Safety and the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
